Severe North Shore commuter rail delays Wednesday afternoon

The MBTA said early Wednesday afternoon that the problem is due to a signal problem in Beverly and is affecting inbound and outbound trains.

BEVERLY, MA — North Shore train riders could be in for a long, slow ride throughout the day Wednesday due to a signal problem causing “severe” delays in both directions.

The MBTA said engineering crews were working to fix the signal problem in Beverly at about 1:30 p.m.

Trains will be forced to run at reduced speed until the problem is resolved.

The MBTA said around 3:30 p.m. that delays were about 30 minutes.
