EasyJet urges all passengers to ‘please check’ or ‘charges will apply’

EasyJet passengers have been urged to check their bags before packing for their trip or face an extra charge at the airport if their suitcase doesn’t meet the requirements.

The low-cost airline is known to check customers’ hand luggage before boarding, and any luggage that doesn’t comply with EasyJet’s rules, or doesn’t match the passenger’s booking allowance, risks being rejected. EasyJet warned customers that non-compliant bags “will not be allowed into the cabin” and “charges will apply”.

All tourists flying with EasyJet are allowed to bring one small under-seat bag on board free of charge. This bag cannot be larger than 45 x 36 x 20 cm including wheels and handles and can weigh up to 15 kg.

Travelers can bring a larger carry-on bag on board for an additional fee. A large hand bag costs from £5.99 at the time of booking and gives passengers more space – up to 56 x 45 x 25cm including wheels and handles – to pack their holiday essentials. Anyone booking a large cabin bag also benefits from priority boarding.

Passengers who exceed their baggage allowance can expect to be charged up to £48 at the airport. EasyJet charges an extra weight fee of £12 per extra kilogram per flight for check-in bags. Hold bags cannot weigh more than 32 kg each.

An airport baggage fee of £48 applies to all unpurchased baggage brought to the airport gate and any oversized cabin baggage. This bag will not be allowed on board as hand luggage and will instead have to be placed in the hold.

EasyJet shared advice with all passengers on its website, urging them to “please check” their bag sizes to avoid any unexpected charges. The airline said: “We check the dimensions of your hand luggage before you board.

“If your carry-on bag is larger than the maximum size allowance, or if you bring a large carry-on bag to the departure gate without the correct seat selection or one reserved in advance for your flight, it will not be allowed into the cabin. .

“We’ll need to check it in the aircraft hold and charges will apply. So it’s important to check your carry-on allowance before you travel to avoid any unexpected charges.”
