Woman in her 40s dies after Kennet and Avon canal rescue

A 40-year-old woman has died after being rescued from a canal by emergency services.

Wiltshire Police said the woman received emergency medical treatment on the banks of the Kennet and Avon Canal in Rowde, Wiltshire, at around 10.30am BST on Tuesday.

She was taken to hospital in a life-threatening condition and later died of her injuries, the force added.

An investigation is underway to determine the circumstances of the incident.
