M62 live updates as traffic came to a complete standstill

Motorists traveling along the M62 westbound between Wakefield and Leeds are facing long delays this afternoon.

Traffic has been brought to a standstill following a collision on the M62 westbound before J30 A642 (Rothwell). Footage from motorway cameras shows cars queuing from bumper to bumper as queues continue to build.




The circumstances and severity of the collision are currently unknown. It is also unclear when the road will reopen. YorkshireLive has contacted West Yorkshire Police for further information.

The M62 westbound near Wakefield is now clear following an earlier accident.

Traffic was brought to a standstill, with cars tailing bumper to bumper in three miles of congestion, following the crash before J30 A642 (Rothwell).

M62 reopens but delays continue

The westbound M62 near Wakefield has reopened following an earlier collision.

Delays remain in place as traffic conditions slowly return to normal.

Our travel partner Inrix reports: “Slow traffic due to previous accident on M62 Westbound before J30 A642 (Rothwell). Traffic was stopped for about fifteen minutes.”

Building queues

A National Highways spokesman said there were three miles of congestion on the M62 near Wakefield following a crash.
