Troy Deeney and Simon Jordan predict who will win the Championship play-off final…Leeds or Southampton

Graeme Souness, Troy Deeney and Simon Jordan share their prediction for the play-off final between Leeds United and Southampton.

The two teams go head-to-head at Wembley on Sunday for the chance to take the last remaining Premier League place next season, both relegated together 12 months ago.

After finishing third and fourth respectively in the regular season, this is the right final in the eyes of many, with the OPTA supercomputer predicting both to go through to the semi-finals.

Both teams still have a number of Premier League standard players in their ranks, so it’s all set to be an exciting final that could go either way.

Southampton have actually been the only side to complete a league double against Leeds this season, so Daniel Farke will be hoping for third time lucky at Wembley this weekend.

Graeme Souness, Deeney and Jordan all predict the Leeds vs Southampton final

In what is being called the richest game in football, several pundits have given their predictions ahead of Sunday’s game.

David Prutton and Ally McCoist are among those backing Leeds to win via penalty kick, while Robbie Savage also predicts a win for the Whites.

On the other hand, Dion Dublin and EFL pundit Adrian Clarke tip Southampton to get the job done thanks to Russell Martin’s superior style of play.

And now, on the latest episode of the Up Front Podcast, Souness, Deeney and Jordan share who they think will come out on top this weekend.

Souness said: “I’m going to Leeds,” before Deeney agreed, “I’m going to Leeds.”

Jordan then replied: “I’m going to Southampton. There’s something about Russell Martin. He was so exasperated after Southampton were finished by Cardiff and I thought to myself I wonder if you can get your balance back.

“I wonder if you’re really going to break up. And the fact that he was able to catch the nettle and get them through the play-offs (is impressive).”

Crysencio Summerville forgetting the key Kyle Walker-Peters battle

One of the biggest one-on-one battles on Sunday arguably takes place on Leeds’ left side as Crysencio Summerville takes on Saints right-back Kyle Walker-Peters.

Both players are arguably the best in their position in the Championship, but Walker-Peters came out on top in both league meetings.

In addition to keeping Summerville quiet, Walker-Peters had an assist on St. Mary’s and Elland Road, but the Leeds winger says he is looking forward to testing himself against him again.

He said: “He is one of the best right-backs in the Championship and he was also in the Team of the Season. I like challenging myself against the best, so I’m looking forward to the duel.”
