The cheapest places in Leicestershire for petrol and diesel this holiday weekend

Ashby is the cheapest place in Leicestershire for petrol this bank holiday weekend. According to the latest figures from petrol suppliers and the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) as of Friday 24 May, the Tesco petrol station in Ashby’s Resolution Road is the least expensive of all, charging motorists £144.9 per liter . This means it would cost £79.70 to fill an average 55 liter tank here.

Ashby’s price is unchanged from the previous bank holiday weekend, but prices have generally continued to rise this year, prompting some organizations to call for action. The RAC wrote to Energy Secretary Claire Coutinho this week calling for “significant action” against fuel retailers who charge “too much” for petrol and diesel.

RAC fuel spokesman Simon Williams said: “We believe the current margins charged by larger retailers, in particular, are grossly unfair to motorists struggling to make ends meet in the cost of living crisis.” The calls come as the average price of a liter of petrol in Leicestershire this week is 139.9p. This is 7.4p less than the national average of 147.3p.
