Leeds Rhinos offer a hint of early squad news with trio named in Halifax Panthers squad

Two members of Leeds Rhinos’ 21-man squad have been named in partners Halifax Panthers’ extended dual-registration squad this weekend – including midfielder Jack Sinfield. Fax Doncaster’s welcome to the Championship this Sunday, with three Leeds players set to be involved.

Leon Ruan, also part of Rohan Smith’s squad to take on St Helens on Friday, and Ned McCormack are also named in Liam Finn’s squad. But it is Sinfield’s inclusion that has raised eyebrows after he featured in the Rhinos’ last two Super League games.

Sinfield was selected ahead of Matt Frawley for the club’s win over London Broncos and the pair played together in the defeat to Catalans Dragons with Brodie Croft out injured. Croft is available for selection tonight and is expected to return to the side, although his partnership has been a point of contention in the days leading up to the contest.

However, Sinfield’s inclusion in Halifax’s squad would seem to suggest that Frawley will get the nod when the squad news arrives on Friday night. It’s a decision that would likely divide the fan base, with many eager to see Kevin Sinfield’s son have an extended run in the side.

The 19-year-old played 13 times for the Rhinos in the early stages of his career and signed a new contract last year. Meanwhile, Frawley, an off-season recruit from Canberra, has received some criticism in the early rounds of the season.
