Two teenagers charged with murder after fatal stabbing in New Park

Two teenagers have been charged with murder after a fatal stabbing in Leicester. Codie Bambrick, 18, died at the scene of the incident in New Parks on Wednesday.

On Friday (May 24), Leicestershire Police said the two 17-year-olds, who cannot be identified due to their age, were also charged with conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm and conspiracy to commit violent disorder . They are due to appear at Leicester Magistrates’ Court on Saturday (May 25).



A third 17-year-old was charged with disorderly conduct, assault occasioning actual bodily harm in relation to another person and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place. He will also appear at the same court on Saturday.

Police were called to Glazebrook Road shortly before 1.15pm following a report that a man had been stabbed. Codie, 18, was treated by emergency services but died at the scene a short time later.

A 38-year-old woman and a 36-year-old man who were arrested on suspicion of violent disorder in connection with the incident have been released on bail. A 52-year-old man was previously arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender in connection with the incident and was later released under investigation.

A post-mortem examination confirmed that Codie died of a stab wound. In a statement, his family said “our world has been turned upside down”.

They added: “Cody was loved by us all and will be missed by his family and friends. We urge anyone who can assist police in their investigation to contact them.”
