‘Horrifying’ brawl outside Tesco as horrified women watch

A fight broke out between a group of youths outside a supermarket as a group of neighbors looked on.

Police were called to Park Road in Toxteth at 5.15pm this afternoon, May 24, following reports of a man being assaulted. Witnesses said they saw a “massive brawl” between a “group of lads” outside the Park Road Tesco Extra store.

When the ECHO arrived at the scene, neighbors were still shaking their heads about what they had witnessed. One woman said she was “too upset to talk about it” but added: “It was awful.”

Her friend said: “It was more of an attempted murder than an attack. We need more police around here. We need Section 60”.

Neighbors on Park Road are extremely concerned about what they believe is an increase in anti-social behavior in the area. Speaking to the ECHO, another woman said she sees “gangs of kids” hanging outside Tesco on Park Road “all the time”.

She added: “They are just terrible. They stand around throwing rocks at cars as they go by. It is so dangerous. What happens when a car has to swerve to avoid it? One of these days, they’re going to kill someone. ”

A Merseyside Police spokesman said: “We are investigating following reports of a disturbance involving a group of men in the Toxteth area this evening, Friday 24 May.

“We were contacted at 5.15pm to reports that a man had been assaulted by a group of men in the Park Road area.

“At this stage no one has come forward to report being injured and CCTV and witness inquiries are ongoing in the local area.
