A Kirklees man has been forced to seek help after finding himself unable to afford food after his marriage broke down and mounting debts and divorce costs meant he could not afford food.

The cost of living crisis continues to affect each and every one of us, and unfortunately, sometimes a change in circumstances can stretch people beyond their limits.

A 63-year-old man from Heckmondwike found himself in the devastating situation of not being able to afford his food shopping after his recent divorce doubled his bills. Despite his efforts, the man struggled to eke out a single income.

Starving and struggling, the man, who hadn’t eaten since 1pm yesterday, reluctantly contacted Tanisha this morning. Luckily, her team was able to help him by giving him two weeks worth of free food.

Tanisha told Yorkshire Live: “This morning a 63-year-old gentleman from Heckmondwike approached us for assistance. He revealed to us that he had not eaten since 1:00 pm the previous day as he had exhausted his food supplies.

“Following a recent marital breakdown and mounting debts, he found himself facing financial difficulties. Despite his lack of experience in seeking such support, he contacted us after receiving our details from a friend. I immediately delivered two weeks worth of food to him. .
