Little-known driving mistakes could lead to fines of more than £6,000, experts warn

A bank holiday weekend means millions of Britons are expected to hit the roads. The RAC predicts one of the busiest weekends on the roads all year.

However, with so many people on the road, safety. This means making sure your vehicle is in a good condition that won’t put you or others at risk. There are strict laws that are in place to ensure that people follow the rules.

Car expert Darren Miller from leading motoring company BigWantsYourCar.com offers expert advice on the key mistakes drivers should avoid while driving this holiday weekend to prevent costly fines of over 6,000 of pounds sterling.

Bike rack: £1,000

“Bike racks are a cheap and easy way to take your bike with you on the road, but drivers need to make sure their car’s number plate and brake lights are always visible. If they aren’t, it’s not safe and you could be fined £1,000. A light board or removable number plate can solve this and allow you to transport your bikes safely and legally.”

Dogs in car: £5,000

“When traveling with your pet, ensure that it is properly restrained in the car to avoid driver distraction and potential hazards during sudden stops. It’s about avoiding the potential £5,000 fine and most importantly keeping you and your pet safe.”
