Albania has the ‘Maldives of Europe’ with crystal clear waters and stunning resorts – and it’s cheap | Coventry Live

The Maldives, a group of small coral islands located just 400 miles southwest of India and Sri Lanka, is often considered a once-in-a-lifetime trip for many Europeans. However, the costs of flights, accommodation, food, local transport and activities can be prohibitive for many Britons.

But it turns out you don’t have to travel far to experience a luxury destination like these individual resort islands. Solo traveler Talia recently encouraged fellow adventurers to visit Albania, promising they “won’t regret it”.

In a recent TikTok video on her @travelingwithtals account, Tals revealed why Albania is nicknamed the ‘Maldives of Europe’. Filming in crystal clear waters under the blazing sun, Tals wrote: ‘POV: You booked that solo flight and now you’re camping alone in the Albanian mountains, swimming in the most beautiful water. To feel free.”

The video has been viewed more than 437,000 times, with many agreeing that Albania is a “hidden paradise”. One user commented: “My Albania is magical”, while another simply said: “Wonderful place”.

Holidays in stunning Albania are gaining popularity after being overlooked for years. With its gorgeous sandy beaches, hidden coves and stunning scenery, many influencers encourage others to visit.

TikTok’s The Travel Mama recently enthused: “When people see images of this place, they instantly think of the Maldives! But lucky for us, it’s much closer to home.”

Ksamil, often called the “Maldives of Europe”, is located on the Albanian Riviera, attracting a lot of comparisons from tourists who are delighted with its turquoise blue waters, sunny climate and beautiful clear blue sky background. But what seals the deal is its affordability compared to the Maldives.

The resort town allows tourists to engage in classic Maldivian-style activities such as snorkelling, swimming or simply relaxing in the sun, among others. The average cost of drinking in the country, at £1.78 per pint, is another potential draw.

With temperatures averaging no more than 25C during the summer, Ksamil should definitely be on your must-see list.

Google Flights data shows that you can fly from London to Tirana, Albania’s capital and nearest airport, for as little as £94 in July on several airlines, including Wizz Air. This destination, although about a four-hour drive, is not as close to Corfu, Greece, which has the closest international airport to Ksamil.
