The Liverpool Riverside restaurant is one of the best in the UK

A riverside restaurant in Liverpool has been named one of the best in Britain.

Those looking for a place with as much atmosphere as the food should head to Maray, according to The Times’ listing. Sharing a list of the UK’s 31 best riverside pubs and restaurants for 2023, the Royal Albert Dock venue has made the cut.




Maray, which has two locations in the city, serves Middle Eastern-inspired small plates aimed at vegetarians and vegans alike. Maray changes things up slightly twice a year in the spring/summer and fall/winter seasons.

That means the spring and summer menu is now served, and Maray’s head chef Alex has been working with local suppliers to source the best new produce, introduce some new dishes and tweak some existing favorites .

New dishes include drizzled cucumbers, which are paired with confit garlic, onion seeds and red pepper flakes, served on a bed of labneh. Crispy sea bass, which is a re-imagining of their favorite spring and lamb skewers consisting of leg of lamb marinated in cumin, coriander, lemon, Greek oregano and garlic. It is served with baba ganoush and caramelized onions.

The dessert section also reintroduces a baklava cheesecake and a vegan chocolate and coffee ganache brownie. Andy Lynes of The Times said: “For Middle Eastern-inspired dockside dining, head to this lively glass-fronted restaurant overlooking the water and boats of Liverpool’s Albert Dock.
