Why Mikolaj Oledzki is scouting with Leeds Rhinos – Total Rugby League

By LOUIS CHAPMAN-COOMBE

LEEDS representative Mikolaj Oledzki believes his side can now start looking at the top after two consecutive wins.

Rhinos thrashed London Broncos 46-8 on Friday, a week after an emphatic 18-12 win over Hull FC.

Oledzki believes the two wins will be good for his team.

“We’re back in the mix,” he said.

“It’s only ten rounds but we’re two points away and we’re up there. We build and sometimes you just have to be a little patient; but the last two weeks have been very good for us.”

He added: “I don’t think we needed these two games to start because we are a good team and we know what we are capable of; we’re just trying to get into the flow of things, make things work together and play the rugby we know we’re capable of.”

Friday’s win was also arguably Leeds’ best overall performance of the season. The strike, in particular, would have delighted the Headingley faithful.

“We showed up with the right attitude,” Oledzki told League Express.

“Sometimes when you play teams that aren’t doing too well, you expect things to happen; but we showed up, we knew what we had to do, and things happened to us.

“Our offense fell into place naturally, especially after some of the individual brilliance behind us. Lachie Miller, Ash Handley, Luis Roberts, Rhyse Martin and all the guys at the back built that platform.”

He added: “The kick returns were wonderful. As a midfielder, when you see your defender go past you with the ball, it’s always a good sight. We built the attack on the backs of those kidnappers.”

The win over London ended a four-game losing streak at home for the Rhinos, although they now enter a difficult run of games against the injured Catalans, St Helens and local rivals Castleford.
