Armed police called to Loughborough after reports of ‘bladed weapons’

Armed police were deployed in Loughborough after “bladed weapons” were seen. Leicestershire Police said six people had been arrested following the incident.

The force said it received “several” calls at around 8.40pm on Thursday (May 23) about a reported fight in Forest Road. During those calls, he said witnesses reported seeing “bladed weapons.”

A police spokesman said armed officers were sent to the scene “in the interest of public and officer safety”. They said six people – five men aged 19, 25, 31, 35 and 39 and a 28-year-old woman – were arrested on suspicion of affray.

The force said all six have since been released on bail. Inquiries into the incident are ongoing and police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.
