Trains are warning Leeds United fans ahead of their trip to Wembley for the Championship play-off final

Leeds United fans traveling to Wembley for Sunday’s Championship play-off final have been warned about “extremely busy” trains.

Train operator LNER urged fans to get to stations early and said most trains were now fully booked.

The operator said: “Trains to London King’s Cross on Sunday 26 May are expected to be extremely busy to 1pm due to the large number of customers traveling to the Championship play-off final at Wembley Stadium.

“Most trains are now fully booked and if you are traveling without a seat reservation you will probably have to pay for your journey. We recommend that you allow enough time to get to the station and check our Travel Alerts or the latest updates before your journey.”

Trains north to Leeds on Sunday evening will also be very busy and booking is recommended, the LNER said.

LNER said:

  • Last train north to Wakefield Westgate departs at 9:35 p.m.
  • Last train north to York departs at 22:05.
  • Last train north to Doncaster and Leeds departs at 10:35 p.m.

The LNER added: “Please remember that not everyone will be going to the game so please be considerate of other customers traveling and be courteous to our staff who are there to help.”
