It’s all change on the Power Play or Penalty Kill in the CHL

2 minutes means 2 minutes…

“A team that missed the minor penalty will be left behind even if the opposing team scores a power play goal”

Execution of late penalties

A minor penalty will be taken even if a goal scored while a late penalty is pending.

The shortened goal erases the current minor penalty

If a short-handed team scores, the minor penalty against will end.

Head coach Aaron Fox, who was at the meeting in Prague, commented, “The rule changes definitely make special teams that much more important. I watched a lot of CHL games last year and that wrinkle had an impact on the game and definitely made things more interesting. You saw teams pressuring for early goals and PKs looking to score even more.”
