Traffic has come to a complete standstill on the M62 following the lorry fire

Traffic is at a standstill on the M62 after a lorry fire broke out on the motorway.

According to the traffic management system, Inrix, traffic is temporarily stopped on the M62 eastbound following the fire. This takes place between junction 24 of the A629 and junction 23 of Huddersfield.




Queues are building up on both the M62 and the slip road as drivers try to avoid the backed up traffic.

Inrix said: “All traffic temporarily stopped and traffic stationary due to lorry fire on M62 eastbound at J24 A629 (Ainley Top). Congestion to J23 Huddersfield.

West Yorkshire Police have been contacted for comment.
