Birmingham building fire live as road closed

This video taken from the earlier incident shows a hydraulic platform in use and crews checking the space on the roof of the building. Nearly 100 construction workers were evacuated when the small fire broke out on the 14th floor of the 23-story building.

No one was injured and the incident is over. Two lanes were also reopened.

Summer Hill Road begins to reopen as fire engines leave

The B4135 Summer Hill Road – heading into the town center – was currently closed at the junction with Summer Hill Street. The fire is out and the road is expected to reopen shortly as emergency services begin to leave the scene.

Nearly 100 workers have been evacuated as debris from the buildings catches fire

Nearly 100 workers were evacuated after a fire broke out inside a building. The fire involved construction waste and materials on the 14th floor of a 23-storey building on Summer Hill Road, Ladywood. The incident is now over and crews will withdraw from the scene.

West Midlands Fire Service said: “All 98 workers were evacuated. We got the call at 9.30am and dispatched six machines and a hydraulic platform.

“The building was under construction and there were construction materials and waste that caught fire. No one was injured.
