Hour by hour weather forecast for Sunday as an alert from the Met Office

Brummies look set to put their umbrellas to good use as the city braces for hours of rain on Sunday, with showers and thunder to bring an abrupt end to the festive sunshine. The region will experience periods of rain, thunder and gusty winds throughout Sunday, with a chance of difficult driving conditions, road closures and flooding.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for Sunday, May 26, warning that flooding and disruption is on the cards. The Met Office’s yellow weather warning has forecast heavy and slow showers for much of Sunday, which may also lead to public transport cancellations.




The alert, which covers all of the West Midlands and up north, will be in place from midday on Sunday until 8pm. The forecast for Sunday says Birmingham will experience highs of 18 degrees Celsius and that the worst thunderstorms will hit between 10am and 1pm.

The Met Office forecast for Sunday reads: “A cloudy start with patchy rain gradually breaking into sunny spells and scattered showers. These heavy at times with a chance of thunder and strong winds. Maximum temperature 18 °C”.
