The Foxes have been linked with the international defender and midfielder

Foxes of Leicester are commenting on transfer rumors after the football press linked the East Midlands side with potential signings. One of the players in question is an international defender while the other is a midfielder in his national team. Meanwhile, Leeds United – we won’t mention the Championship Playoff Final, I promise! – and Leicester have a rival in Premier League outfit Newcastle for another apparent target. Join us for thoughts on the latest LCFC reports.

Before we get to the latest Leicester speculation, an old link is back in the news. It appears to be two years – after former Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers joined – since the Foxes were first mooted as a possible destination for Celtic star Matt O’Riley.

Well, the rumors are back after a seemingly inconsequential development. Clearly a capable and classy operator, O’Riley is certainly a top footballer looking to challenge himself in the best division around: the EPL. And if my opinion counts, I think he’s likely to take notice.

Of late, Newcastle are said to have begun monitoring City’s long-term recruitment choice. Denmark international O’Riley is also admired by Leeds. However, due to their disappointing result on Sunday afternoon, the Whites will do well to secure a professional of this caliber right now.

The 23-year-old can play in multiple roles in the middle of the park. He is predominantly a number 8 but can play as a number 6 or 10. His goals support the last point up. O’Riley’s market value is currently said to be around £13m.

While the King Power Club awaits the results of their alleged breach of profit and sustainability rules, they will be conducting business. Or at the very least, they’ll have all their ducks lined up in advance. Two new targets are rumored to have emerged: Welsh youngster Jordan James as well as Slovakian David Hancko.

First, James. Another midfielder with an eye for goal. If you ask me, this could be a good signing for City. But West Ham United are also interested. Second, Hancko. The dominant centre-back can also feature as a left-back, such as Manchester City’s Joško Gvardiol. According to claims, LCFC want to “revamp” their defence; the versatile 26-year-old is undoubtedly ideal for Enzo Maresca’s system.
