Tragedy as woman dies in fatal house fire in Alum Rock

A woman was tragically killed in a town house fire in the early hours of this morning, May 27. The fatal blaze broke out at a two-storey house in Cotterills Lane, Alum Rock, shortly after 1.55am.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the property and discovered the woman on the ground floor. Unfortunately, she was pronounced dead at the scene.




West Midlands Fire Service said the fire was already out before crews arrived. The smoke-filled log building was ventilated while crews checked neighboring properties for further smoke and fire spread.

The firefighters handed over the incident to the police and left the scene at 4:47. West Midlands Police said the force was not treating the woman’s death as suspicious.

A West Midlands Fire Service spokesman said: “We responded to Cotterills Lane in the Alum Rock area of ​​Birmingham shortly after 1.55am today, May 27. Two fire engines from Ward End and Sheldon responded, the first arriving within three minutes of being mobilized. .

“There was a fire in a two-storey house at the end of a terrace which was put out before we arrived. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the property and discovered a woman on the ground floor.

“Paramedics confirmed the woman’s death at the scene. Our thoughts remain with all those affected by this incident.
