Town launches One Bag Challenge to help fight food insecurity

PRESS RELEASE
TOWN OF BRADFORD WEST GWILLIMBURY
**************************
The City of BWG is accepting the Bradford Community Fridge Group’s #onebagchallenge to help improve food affordability for families in our city and is inviting the community to join the challenge as well.

The #onebagchallenge encourages residents to fill a bag with fresh vegetables, bread and other food essentials to help fill Bradford’s community fridge and the plates of BWG families in need.

“Everyone needs a little help sometimes. Helping those in need can make someone’s day a little better, whether it’s with a loaf of bread or a can of soup. Everyone deserves to eat.” — Linda Maclean of the Bradford Community Fridge group

Once the bag is filled, residents can drop it off at the cooler located at the BWG Public Library or contact (email protected) for one of the Bradford Community Fridge group volunteers to pick it up for you.

“The One Bag Challenge is what community is all about – coming together to help your neighbors who may not have the resources to access safe, healthy and nutritious food. I invite all residents to take up the challenge and help reduce food insecurity in our city.” — Mayor James Leduc

Those who want to take part in the challenge are invited to share their donation journey on social media using the hashtags #onebagchallenge and #bwgcommunityfridge to help raise awareness of the initiative. Together, let’s make Bradford the community that helps each other.
