Les Dennis says ‘it’s in the past’ as he draws the line on relationship with Amanda Holden

Les Dennis says he has drawn a line following his high-profile split from Amanda Holden.

The Family Fortunes host was married to the Britain’s Got Talent judge from 1995 to 2003. Their romance regularly hit the headlines and ended in difficult circumstances after Amanda had an affair with Neil Morrisey.

In an interview last year, the entertainer told the Sunday Times how he had completely moved on from the relationship. He said, “All the hurt that happened has been healed.”

Les said he has no hard feelings towards his ex-wife, who he praised for saying “nice” things about him recently. He said: “We’re not in touch, but I’m happy she’s happy.” Les added: ‘I can watch Britain’s Got Talent without getting angry. To be honest, it’s like I’m looking at another person, someone I’ve never met.”

Les drew a line under the relationship in an interview with the ECHO when he said: “That’s in the past. I have a quote, the past is a foreign country, they do things differently there, which is the opening line in The Go- Between them I wish them well, but we don’t need to get into all that.”

Les spoke to the ECHO as he prepares to star in an adaptation of a William Shakespeare play for the first time. The 70-year-old will play Malvolio at Shakespeare North Prescot from June 7-29. The role is a long held dream for Les as he said: “I went with Quarry Bank School in Stratford and saw the Royal Shakespeare Company production with Judi Dench and I was blown away.
