Nicki Minaj confirms new date for Manchester show at Co-Op Live

Nicki Minaj has confirmed a date for her rescheduled Manchester concert at Co-Op Live, which was pushed back at the eleventh hour at the weekend after she was arrested in Amsterdam.

Earlier today (May 28), Minaj tweeted that next Monday, June 3, is the new date for her Manchester concert, which was originally scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 25.

“Ok guys I’ve been RE-ADVISED that we actually CANNOT do any other appointments for the #gagcityMANCHESTER makeup apart from JUNE 3rd,” she tweeted/X.

“So 3rd JUNE is the new official date for all ticket holders who originally had tickets to the #Manchester show on 25th MAY. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. I sincerely hope you can make the #JUNE3rd show. It will be really special. Ticketmaster will contact you to officially inform you. #GAGCITY”

“I love you,” she concluded.

The rapper was due to take her ‘Pink Friday 2’ live show to Manchester’s Co-Op Live as part of her ongoing UK and European tour, but was arrested earlier in the day in Amsterdam, where she says that she was kept in a prison cell. for “5-6 hours”.

Footage that Minaj herself live-streamed showed her being detained by Dutch police for allegedly “carrying drugs” while traveling between countries. The Dutch National Police confirmed that she was arrested but has since been released.

Although Minaj’s live stream was accessible by fans, no announcement was made of her absence until 9:30pm that night. Fans have reportedly been waiting at the venue since 7pm.

Minaj took to social media in the early hours of Sunday morning (May 26), apologizing for the current situation and updating her fans. “Thank you to everyone who prayed for me today,” she began. “May God cover you and everything related to you. May you be blessed beyond your imagination.”

She explained that by the time she got to Manchester, she had narrowly missed out on making it to Co-Op Live. “They knew I would still find a way to perform, even if it came down to my last 90 minutes in the building, which would be until 11:30 p.m.,” she wrote. “The building was willing to go past 11 p.m. I am so grateful to them for that.”

Minaj added that she believes the authorities’ intervention was deliberate and that she’s “going to have lawyers and GOD take her out of here.” In a separate tweet, she praised her Manchester fans for being a “class act” as they wait for a new date.

The postponement of Minaj’s eleventh-hour show is the latest in a string of unfortunate incidents for Co-Op Live. The Manchester venue, which is the UK’s largest indoor arena, delayed its opening by three weeks due to technical problems and the building not being ready. This resulted in postponing or canceling several high-profile concert dates for The Black Keys, Olivia Rodrigo and A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, among others.
