Premier League club now ‘confident’ of signing £11million Leeds United player permanently this summer

Leeds United now face a difficult summer after failing to win promotion back to the Premier League.

The Whites were beaten 1-0 by Southampton in the Championship play-off final on Sunday, which was their last chance to secure an immediate return to the top flight.

The result at Wembley means that Leeds were the only of the three relegated sides not to return at the first attempt and so there could be some major changes to the playing squad.

Leeds will see their parachute payments cut by 10%, while 49ers Enterprises have admitted they will have to sell some key players to raise some quick funds.

Last summer, after relegation, Leeds lost a number of players on loan, but that can’t afford to be the case again this time around, with part of the £190m in unpaid transfer fees due paid before June 30.

Jack Harrison could now join Everton permanently

Leeds already sold Luis Sinisterra to Bournemouth in March for a large sum of cash up front, which somewhat eases the need to sell too many.

Championship POTS Crysencio Summerville is the player who will attract the most interest, but Leeds hope they can sell some of their returning loanees first.

Jack Harrison, Max Wober, Marc Roca and Diego Llorente could all move on permanently and according to the Daily Mail Everton are now confident of signing the former.

Leeds’ failure to gain promotion is said to have strengthened Everton’s hand in negotiations, with the Toffees exploring terms to make his stay on Merseyside permanent.

Harrison actually has a clause that would allow him to leave on loan again, but some cut-price deal could tempt Everton to make a concrete offer.

Leeds spent £11m to sign him from Manchester City in 2021 and any sort of return on that would be good business for the club. I hope it can be done quickly.

Brenden Aaronson confirms Leeds return

With the club’s season now over, Brenden Aaronson is the only player to officially confirm that he will not sign permanently elsewhere.

Aaronson sent a message of “thank you” to Union Berlin at the end of last week, indicating he will return to Leeds in the summer.

However, Leeds are said to be open to offers of as little as £10m, seemingly unlikely to be welcomed back to Elland Road.

That would be a significant loss of £15m, but at this stage he is just someone he needs off the books as soon as possible.
