Coastal cliff house tucked away on a secluded, walk-only headland with stunning views of unspoilt beach is on the market for £2.5m

  • The five bedroom house is located on Hawks Point in Carbis Bay, Cornwall
  • It overlooks the secluded Porthkidney sands, accessible only on foot

An idyllic coastal house perched on a cliff with magnificent views over a virgin beach has been put on the market for £2.5 million.

Aptly named The Haven is one of only a few houses on a secluded headland, hidden from view and accessible only on foot.

The five bedroom property is located on Hawks Point on the edge of Cornwall’s Carbis Bay and boasts incredible uninterrupted sea views.

It looks down to Porthkidney Sands, one of Cornwall’s prettiest and cleanest beaches, just five minutes’ walk along a coastal path.

The current owners tore down the old original structure and built the existing property in 2011.

They used it as a family holiday home and also made a good income renting it out, but decided to sell.

The property has 2,296 sq m of accommodation with a reception hall, open plan kitchen/dining/living room, bedroom, bathroom and utility room on the ground floor and a further four bedrooms, all en suite, on the first floor.

There is a sea view terrace off the main living space and a hot tub from which to enjoy the views. Two of the bedrooms have a covered balcony which agents Lillicrap Chilcott say has some of the finest coastal views in Cornwall.

Breathtaking views cover the whole of St Ives Ba, stretching to the Hayle Estuary and along the coast to Godrevy and its famous lighthouse.

Porthkidney Sands is a beautiful and unspoilt tidal beach, popular with surfers and dog walkers, but remains fairly quiet even in high summer due to its relative inaccessibility – there are no nearby car parks and its only access is from the coastal path.

Carbis Bay is a popular area on the outskirts of St Ives and the beach there, famous for water sports, was the site of the 2021 G7 Summit.

Mark Bracey, of Lillicrap Chilcott, said: “This home is in a magical setting with truly world-class panoramic views.

“It is on a promontory above Porthkidney Sands beach and there are about half a dozen properties that can only be accessed on foot.

“That access might mean it’s probably not someone’s first home, but as a holiday home it’s ideal. It’s like you’re really in a different world.

“It’s like no other house I’ve been to. All you hear is the birdsong and the crashing waves below.

“Porthkidney is one of the cleanest beaches in Cornwall and one of the most beautiful and is not too crowded even in summer due to its remote position away from the roads.

“The Carbis Bay branch which takes you into St Ives is a short walk away. If you want the hustle and bustle, it’s only a short distance away, but you can get away from it in this blissful enclave of peace and quiet.

“The concept and the perspective are second to none. You have a private path that joins the coastal path and it’s only a few hundred steps and you’re on the beach in minutes.
