Nuneaton children ‘wheeling in the middle of main roads like wasps’

Fears have been raised about children ‘wheeling in the middle of main roads like wasps’ around Nuneaton. Locals raised their concerns after police urged people to report harmful riders.

Warwickshire Police have taken to social media pages to appeal for people to tell officers if they have problems with anti-social motorbikes and mopeds in their area. There was also a video of PC Walker, a member of the Nuneaton and Bedworth Safer Neighborhood Team, who said: “We are very aware at the moment that we have a number of problems with anti-social cycling.

“This is a neighborhood-wide problem. We are aware that these riders are causing a nuisance to residents. We know that they drive dangerously on the roads and in public spaces.

“We know they ride late into the night and this keeps people awake. To help combat this problem, Warwickshire County Council has created a new reporting tool.”

He continued: “This allows members of the public to report bikes to us anonymously, providing information about where bikes are stored and who rides those bikes. This information gives us the information we need to visit these riders, both to educate and, if necessary, take action.”

Some residents responded to the social media post saying they had reported problems in Nuneaton, with one suggesting there was ongoing trouble in the Thorntons Way area of the town. Another said that children on motorbikes and bicycles “do wheelies in the middle of main roads they are like wasps”.

Anyone with problems with nuisance riders in their area is urged to visit the county council website and use the ‘dob ’em in’ section and fill in the form.
