Cornwall head coach Mike Abbott said his side’s improvement had been impressive despite a 42-16 defeat in League One fourth-placed Hunslet.

The Coughs trailed 6-4 at the break as Coby Nichol’s try was canceled out by Ethan O’Hanlon on the break.

Hunslet ran in six tries after the break as Nathan Conroy and Bailey Black replied for Cornwall.

The Coughs remain second from bottom of the third tier on a nine-game winning streak.

“I thought we were the better team in the first half,” Abbott said.

“We created some really good positions and some better decisions and post some points.

“I’m extremely impressed with how far we’ve come in the last few weeks.

“But in the second half, we didn’t want to have that determination in us to just dig deep and think, ‘OK, for 15 minutes it’s going to be awful now, we’re going to have to go in and win something.’ back.'”
