Live Football News: Premier League updates as Chelsea chase Leicester’s Maresca

Unai Emery has signed a new five-year contract at Aston Villa.

The former Arsenal and Sevilla man managed to guide Villa to fourth in the Premier League to secure Champions League football for the first time in the club’s history.

The Athletic reported extending his contract until 2027 in April, with ambitious owners Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens keen to sit down and extend their terms even further, which they have now done.

“I am very happy to take this step and the responsibility of leading this club,” said Emery. “Since coming to Villa with Wes and Nassef, we have always found the best environment and structure to develop a project with the greatest ambition.

“The whole football structure with Monchi and Damian and the owners, we share the same vision and the same goals.

“There is great chemistry at Aston Villa. And the supportive element of the fans makes all the difference in feeling at home. We are truly excited to continue this journey with no limits to our dreams.”
