Liverpool are among the most valuable clubs in the world, while incredible numbers have been discovered

Liverpool have been named among the five most valuable football clubs in the world, with only one of their Premier League rivals sitting above them.

Business website Sportico has announced its list of the 50 most valuable clubs in world football right now. Liverpool features very well on the list, taking fourth place with a value of $5.11 billion.

Manchester United is the only English club to be ranked higher, with a value of $6.2 billion. They top the list, with Real Madrid ($6.06 billion) and Barcelona ($5.28 billion) between them.

Bayern Munich completes the top five with a value of $4.8 billion. Six Premier League teams are in the top 10, with Manchester City ($4.75 billion), Arsenal ($3.91 billion), Tottenham ($3.49 billion) and Chelsea ($3.47 billion of dollars) being below Liverpool. PSG ($4.05 billion) is the only other side to make the top 10.

The list is compiled using an analysis of revenue streams based on the clubs’ financial statements, as well as input from bankers, investors, consultants and team executives. Other factors such as historical sales, market, brand strength and on-field performance are also considered.

Despite having six of the top 10, the Premier League is not the most represented competition on the list. Instead, it’s MLS, which has a total of 20 clubs in the top 50. The Premier League’s combined valuation of $29 billion far exceeds MLS’s $15.1 billion.
