Tottenham scored twice in stoppage time to earn a dramatic 2-1 win over Sheffield United, continuing their fine start under Ange Postecoglou.

Gustavo Hamer’s 73rd-minute strike looked set to give the Blades a remarkable smash-and-grab, but substitute Richarlison scored one and set up Dejan Kulusevski’s 100th-minute winner to complete a difficult week and complete the change.

Wes Foderingham in goal for the visitors made seven saves in the first half alone, while James Maddison and Heung-min Son had penalty calls dismissed. Debutant Brennan Johnson thought he had equalized after coming off the bench but was flagged for offside.

Guglielmo Vicario 8

He got on the back of an Oliver McBurnie header late in the first half and the delivery was quick and accurate. Powerless to stop Hamer’s shot which sneaks into the far corner.

Pedro Porro 7

He threw in some dangerous crosses into the box, including for a late header by Richarlison, and caught the eye with a brilliant return from Cryuff in the first half.

Christian Romero 7

Caught under the long throw that led to Hamer’s goal. Otherwise, again impressive, especially with the ball.

Micky van de Ven 8

He made some important tackles in the opening exchanges as Spurs found their feet and his pace was important in the recovery.

Destiny Udogie 7

Troubled by Hamer in the opening minutes, but grew into the game with another brilliant performance.

Yves Bissouma 8

He forced Foderingham into his best save of the first half after a brilliant burst into the box. Outstanding again in the middle, driving Spurs forward with a mixture of skill and power.

Pope Matar Sarr 7

A presence in the box, he twice tested Foderingham and ran up and down the pitch, constantly getting involved in the action.

James Maddison 8

At the heart of many of Spurs’ best attacks, although he will likely feel he fell short of his high standards. Unlucky to see a credible penalty denied and twice came close in the first half.

Dejan Kulusevski 8

Raised the roof with a brilliant winning goal, forcing a smart save from the keeper early on. A threat on the right where he always seemed to have space.

Soloman Mansion 7

Full of life. Wriggled into some good shooting positions and tested Foderingham in the first half.

Son Heung-min 6

Produced an extended save from Foderingham but often chased away by a sea of yellow shirts. A decent penalty appeal was dismissed.

Subs

Brennan Johnson (Son of 79′) 7

A surprise it took so long to introduce (true for all subs). He almost had the take-off straight away after a wonderful finish to equalise, but it was just offside.

Richarlison (Sarr 79′) 9

He ended a really tough week with a decisive display, heading home the equalizer and setting up Kulusevski’s dramatic winner. Could this be a breakthrough for him at Spurs?

Involved in both late goals, took the corner for Richarlison’s equalizer and played the ball around the corner for the Brazilian before the winner.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg (ven de Ven 90′) 7

Involved in the build-up to the winning goal in a brief but calm cameo.

Emerson Royal (Porro 90′) 7

Lively on a late show.
