More than 100 Coventry homes could be built on the old college site

Coventry’s old college buildings could be demolished for more than 100 homes under new plans. Another bid has been made to redevelop Coventry College’s former Henley campus, which closed three years ago.

Earlier this month, the council submitted plans for 118 homes to go on the empty land. The scheme also includes two multi-purpose games areas and a 50-space car park, according to planning documents.

A “local play area” is also included in a site layout. The application by Living Space Housing has not yet been decided.

Plan for 112 homes on old Coventry College site fails to get green light on appeal

Unpopular plans for 112 homes at the former Coventry College are to be approved

The plans can be viewed on the council’s planning portal at reference: PL/2024/0000865/FULM. The move comes nine months after a government inspector refused plans for a 112-home scheme on the site.

They said building on the site was acceptable and would be compatible with the local Henley Mill farm, despite the farmer’s serious concerns. But the official ruled that no “special circumstances” applied to justify the loss of so-called “local green space”, including sports facilities and parking.
