Leicester mum overcomes severe postpartum acne with innovative skin care product | Leicestershire Live

A Leicester mum who endured six years of skin that looked ‘sunburnt’ and felt ‘like it was on fire’ due to a severe case of adult acne has finally found relief with a ‘miracle’ treatment . Katie Smith was surprised when she developed adult acne after the birth of her first child in 2018, having enjoyed clear skin throughout her teenage years.

The 36-year-old receptionist from Leicester went on to try a number of prescriptions and skin care products, nothing seemed to alleviate her condition. Katie, who lives with her fiancé Luke, became increasingly frustrated and then self-conscious as her skin problems persisted.

She often canceled social engagements and ventured out only under layers of heavy makeup, which exacerbated her skin problems. But the solution to her problems was found in January this year.

Katie, who is mum to six-year-old Nylah and three-year-old Bodhi, came across Clarol. Within a week of using the British brand’s skincare line, her complexion began to improve and the redness subsided.

Since then, Katie has embraced a newfound confidence, stepping out without make-up for the first time in years. She said: “I’ve never had acne, not even when I was a teenager, so when my skin broke out in pus-filled patches and my cheeks got really red, I panicked because I didn’t want to get out. House. I feel so much. more confident now I was wearing the thickest foundation to cover my skin, now I don’t wear it, or I just wear a BB cream, it’s amazing.”

The change is a world away from how Katie had felt after Nylah was born. She said: “I felt so bad about myself after I gave birth, gained weight and had acne so it was difficult. I think for others going through the same thing, I would say try not to be too skeptical about products and definitely give Clarol a try.”

What made Katie’s skin problems all the more bizarre was that she had always had clear skin in her teenage years, with occasional hormonal breakouts. However, after giving birth to Nylah in 2018, sudden outbreaks of acne started appearing predominantly on her cheeks.
