Carnival of the parish of St. Jeanne Jugan returns to Enfield this week

ENFIELD, CT — Live music, good food, exciting rides and a variety of games of skill and chance will highlight this year’s edition of the St. Jeanne Jugan, scheduled from Thursday to Saturday, May 30 to June 1, on the grounds of St. Jeanne Jugan Parish. Bernard Church at 424 Hazard Avenue.

The carnival will run from 6:00pm to 10:00pm each day with carnival rides, with wristbands on sale nightly for $20 that offer unlimited access to fairground rides or individual ride tickets. Travel tickets will go on sale at 5:30 each night.

There will be a wide variety of food, including fried dough, fries, donuts, strawberry shortcake and sundaes; craft beer provided by Powder Hollow Brewery; and hamburgers, hot dogs and grinders provided by Danny’s Pizza. There will also be booths with skill games and a selection of state-sanctioned games of chance midway through the carnival, as well as an expanded children’s field.

On Friday, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., the Savage Brothers, a band founded in the basement of the family home in Windsor Locks, will perform. The group is celebrating its 40th anniversary at the moment
year and performed over 5,000 concerts in the Northeast. This rhythm rock group is led by one of the founding brothers, vocalist and drummer Michael Savage, and also includes saxophone and trumpets, as well as guitars, keyboards and bass.

DJ Mark Veilleux will play music on Thursday, and a performance by Oh is scheduled for Saturday
Brother, an acoustic duo from East Windsor performing some of the best known songs of
1970s and 1980s.

The draw for the annual parish raffle is set for Saturday at 9:30 p.m. Prizes to be awarded are Visa gift cards in the amounts of $2,000, $1,500 and $1,000. Tickets are $5 each and can be purchased from parish families or at the parish, as well as at the carnival each night.

The carnival is organized by the people of the parish of St. Jeanne Jugan, which comprises all the Roman Catholic churches in Enfield, and is supported not only by them but also by businesses in the area and the wider community.
