Jose Mourinho has made incredible predictions about Liverpool’s new transfer target

Liverpool could be in the market for a new defender this summer – and their latest target has been tipped for big things by Jose Mourinho.

Dean Huijsen is attracting interest from Anfield ahead of the transfer window, according to TuttoJuve. The young Dutch defender has become one of the brightest prospects in Italian football but could now earn a move to the Premier League.

The 19-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at Roma from Juventus, joining the Serie A rivals at the start of January. It was Mourinho who was in charge when the move was made, although he was sacked less than two weeks later, meaning their time together was short-lived.

However, Mourinho made it clear when Huijsen signed the level of confidence he had in the centre-back’s talent. He has declared himself one of the best prospects in European football – a verdict that certainly bodes well for Liverpool if the club do indeed look to make a move.

“I think we all know who he is, he’s an 18-year-old boy who has 10 minutes in Serie A but who is one of the best quality prospects in European football at this age level,” Mourinho said. “He will be a great footballer in the future.”

Borussia Dortmund and Newcastle United are also said to have expressed an interest in Huijsen. His agents are currently in talks with Juventus over his future as he looks for more regular first-team football at the highest level.

Played 13 Serie A games for Roma last term. Although first-team opportunities have so far been limited at Juve, he signed a new contract until 2027 last summer.
