Nuneaton Hospital’s ‘don’t worry’ warning if you notice a huge 999 turnout today

Nuneaton Hospital says local people should not be “alarmed” if they notice a huge 999 presence around the site today. George Eliot Hospital are to play at home in a major incident response exercise later this evening (May 30).

As part of this, there will be a greater presence of the 999 which can be seen from Heath End Road. Bosses at ‘Eliot were quick to tell people that if they see this, there’s nothing to worry about.




“We want to help limit any alarm caused in relation to a major incident response exercise,” a spokesman said, adding that it would run from 10pm until around midnight.

“As part of this, there will be an increase in staff, emergency service vehicles and equipment around our emergency department in Heath End Road.

“The public are advised not to worry as it is all part of the exercise and to attend as normal, staff will be on site to advise and support as required.”

This is not the first time that an emergency training exercise has taken place at “Eliot. Last year, a chemical attack drill saw medics, police and firefighters work together to enact how they would react in the event of such an emergency.
