People are moving from FPS, Geosolutions Leeds, HS2 Ltd and others

A-squared Studio Engineers promoted Paola Ianniello to engineer and Jonathan Martin to the chief engineer.

Ianniello joined the company as a graduate geotechnical engineer in January 2023 and has since worked on 40 projects. Martin joined the company in April 2021 as a senior design engineer. He was promoted in recognition of his leadership and project successes in the company’s temporary works and detailed design work streams.

Civic Earth Names Alex Petts as a senior geotechnical engineer and Kiera I’Anson as a graduate geotechnical engineer.

Petts joins the ground engineering consultancy from Fairhurst, where he led several projects including site investigations, data analysis and risk assessments.

L’Anson also joins the firm from Fairhurst, where he has worked on a wide range of geotechnical projects, supporting the provision of ground investigations, slope stability analysis and geo-environmental reports.

The Federation of Peeling Specialists (FPS) certain Malcolm O’Sullivan as his new chair. O’Sullivan was also recently appointed Van Elle chief operating officer.

O’Sullivan succeeds Expanded Geotechnical business leader John Chick, who successfully completed his two-year term as FPS president. O’Sullivan officially began his leadership role on 16 May.

In his new role at Van Elle, he will be responsible for overseeing the company’s pilot and housing divisions. O’Sullivan joined Van Elle in June 2019. He has 20 years’ experience in soil engineering and deep foundation construction in the UK, having joined Stent Foundations as a graduate engineer in 1997 and progressing to Managing Director of Balfour Beatty Ground Engineering in 2013.

Geosolutions Leeds certain Dave Healy as its director.

Healy is Professor of Geomechanics at the University of Leeds. His current research interests include geothermal energy, fracture model growth, and earthquake probability estimation.

Healy is the first full-time director of Geosolutions Leeds, which launched two years ago. The organization brings together geologists, engineers and social scientists to address global challenges such as climate change. As director, Healy will continue the vision for Geosolutions Leeds, leading research in line with the university’s climate plan.

GEOTECHNOLOGY he greeted Celyn Edwards as a graduate geotechnical engineer.

Edwards has joined the company’s Chester team and is undergoing a training scheme. He brings with him a year of industry experience. He will work at one of the company’s locations in North Wales and learn from senior team members.

American company Geotechnology certain Rebecca Scherzinger as a geotechnical engineer.

Scherzinger joins the Missouri environmental services company from civil engineering firm S&ME in North Carolina, where he was a project engineer.

HS2 Ltd certain Mark Wild as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Wild was previously CEO of Crossrail for nearly four years, leading the project from a pivotal point in its construction to opening. He takes over from HS2 Ltd CEO Mark Thurston, who stepped down last autumn after six-and-a-half years leading the infrastructure project.

Jacobs did Clement Richardson a geotechnical engineer.

Richardson joined the company in April 2021 as a graduate geotechnical engineer. From June 2023, he is a NEC4 supervisor in the Jacobs tunneling and ground engineering team.

Elsaba joins the Dubai-based property management and consultancy firm from Julfar Consultancy Services, where he was a senior geotechnical engineer.

Robert Bird Group (RBG) did Rhea Albelda its director – geotechnical service line leader for AMEP (Africa, Middle East and Pakistan), based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Albelda joined the Australian global engineering consultancy in August 2020 as a geotechnical team leader.
