A30 June closures: Diversions and overnight closures as major project finishes

The A30 will have several road closures in the coming weeks following the long-awaited opening of the new motorway between Chiverton and Carland Cross is imminent. Overnight closures followed by a full weekend closure are among future plans.

National Highways says the £330m project is on track and opening is planned for mid-June. Remedial work will continue throughout the year but is not expected to affect anyone using the new dual carriageway.

Among the closures is a week of overnight restrictions of similar length. Then there is another full closure over the weekend, followed by another period of overnight closure. Several local roads will also be affected as contractors reach the final stages of the transformation.

Next week will see the stretch of the A30 between Chiverton and Mitchell – more than 11 miles – closed overnight for four nights from Monday (June 3) to Thursday (June 6). The closure will be between 20:00 and 06:00 each day.

A diversion will be in place using the A3076 from Mitchell to Quintrell Downs and then using the A3075 to the Chiverton Cross junction.
