Ticket holders at a London festival are slightly nervous after the venue turned into a ‘mud bath’ over the weekend.

The Mighty Hoopla will attract 30,000 people to Brockwell Park on Saturday and Sunday.

The line-up includes acts such as Nelly Furtado, B*witched, Jessie Ware, Rita Ora and Bambie Thug.

However, attendees are taken aback and are “manifesting sunshine” after seeing the weather forecast as well as photos of the state of the park just a few days ago.

Earlier this week, photos taken at the City Splash Festival showed punters walking around in muddy conditions, with most shoes and outfits looking worse for wear.

“Oh you better be planning new outfits because I never even thought this would happen,” Adam posted on X before the Mighty Hoopla.

“If you’re going to play this weekend, make sure you order your water sandals,” Lexi said.

I bet £5 this will be carnage and disaster. Michael predicted.

James added: “After years of not getting a ticket and having FOMO – I’m finally going to Mighty Hoopla this year (Sunday). I can’t wait but the weather is behaving damn well.

However, many others found the panic hilarious.

“For a country that is known to be rainy…you whine too much about it,” Tan joked.

“I’ve never seen so much flapping and panic over mud. Hasn’t anyone been to a festival???’ Lewis asked.

“Hoopla tweets are killing me. Cannae is waiting to slip and slide in the mud, wearing a feathered boar and screaming Untouched, Roisin added.

Despite the concerns, festival organizers have confirmed that everything will go ahead as planned.

“Following heavy rain during another festival on Monday, the site at Brockwell Park has become muddy and wet,” the statement released on social media began.

“We have taken some time to assess with our team, suppliers and our colleagues at Lambeth Council and we now have a robust plan that protects not only the park but everyone who attends, performs and works at Mighty Hoopla 2024.

“Non-stop work has begun and we are now preparing the site ahead of the weekend, including laying 20,000 square meters of additional ground cover in key areas such as stages, toilets, bars, entrances, exits and busy walkways.”

They then advised people to “be good” with their footwear before adding: “We’re doing everything to make sure Mighty Hoopla 2024 is our biggest show yet and we won’t let you down.”

However, in a statement the following day on Wednesday, Lambeth Council said a “final decision” on whether the festival would go ahead this weekend was “yet to be taken”.

Efforts to make the park safe and prevent further damage were “subject to ongoing reviews and risk assessments”, the council added, as reported by My London.
