Manchester United transfer news live Erik ten Hag as Kieran McKenna deal confirmed

Manchester United first team manager Benni McCarthy has explained why Jadon Sancho refused to apologize to Erik ten Hag earlier this season.

Sancho was loaned out to Borussia Dortmund during the January transfer window after seeing the consequences with the Dutchman playing in public. The England winger has been banned by the United boss after failing to apologize for a social media post directed at Ten Hag.

Explaining why Sancho chose to stay in this dispute, McCarthy told 947: “I spoke to the manager and said you know the delicacy.

“I told him that I think Jadon feels that if he apologizes, he’s going to be seen as someone who doesn’t train hard, doesn’t work hard, and that everything that’s been said against him is true.

“If you’re from the street, nobody wants to apologize because then you admit you’re not training well, you’re lazy, that’s all you’re accused of,” continued the United manager and former Blackburn Rovers striker.

“Jadon wasn’t going to have that. The manager said all he wanted was an apology. I talked to Jadon as a coach, as a mentor, as a friend and as someone who grew up on the streets and knows the code. But Jadon just didn’t he saw, he said, ‘I don’t apologize for being lazy, I’m always late, and I don’t apologize.’ And those were his reasons.”
