Connor Swindells, Romola Garai Join Cast Of Netflix’s Prince Andrew As Jeffrey Epstein Snapper And ‘Newsnight’ Editor

EXCLUSIVE: The Netflix film about the BBC’s bombshell 2019 interview with Prince Andrew has completed its cast after going into production last month.

Rufus Sewell plays the disgraced royal Scoopwhile Gillian Anderson was chosen as the interrogator: the first Newsnight presenter Emily Maitlis.

He joined them Sexual education star Connor Swindells, who will play Jae Donnelly, the photographer who photographed Prince Andrew walking in Central Park with sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Romola Garai, who played in Hour and Atonementwill play the role of Esme Wren, the publisher Newsnight at the time of the interview. Wren is now the editor of Channel 4 News.

Charity Wakefield has been cast as Princess Beatrice, Prince Andrew’s daughter. Wakefield has also appeared in Hall of Wolves.

Lia Williams (Capture) is set as Fran Unsworth, the BBC’s former director of news. Amanda Redman (Sexy beast) plays the mother of Sam McAlister, the guest who wrote the memoir about Scoop is based.

McAlister, who negotiated access to Prince Andrew, is played by Billie Piper. Also in the main cast is Keeley Hawes, who plays Amanda Thirsk, the prince’s former private secretary.

Deadline said the project was in the works last summer. It will follow the inside track of the women who swept through Buckingham Palace to secure the reception of the decade that led to Prince Andrew’s catastrophic fall from grace.

Philip Martin (The crown) is a director. Scoop is produced by Hilary Salmon and Radford Neville for The Lighthouse Film & Television, with Sanjay Singhal for Voltage TV. Peter Moffat and Geoff Bussetil are writers.
