Coronation Street fans fear for Roy Cropper after his harrowing ordeal in prison.

As TV viewers will know, Roy was wrongfully accused of murdering Lauren Bolton and spent weeks behind bars despite being innocent. Things came to a head when far-right extremist Griff tried to kill him in prison.

Fortunately, Roy was rescued and later released. Touching scenes showed him returning to Weatherfield to be reunited with his loved ones.

Viewers have also been made aware that it is actually Joel Deering – Nathan’s lawyer – who is behind Lauren’s grim disappearance, but nobody in Coronation Street has a clue.

Friday’s episode saw DS Swain apologize to Roy for his ‘ordeal’ and viewers also saw Roy being short with Sam Blakeman before lashing out at niece Nina Lucas. Viewers quickly took to X, formerly of Twitter, to make a sad prediction about the much-loved cafe owner.

@winis_world said: “I think this will make Roy change his personality. That makes me sad.” Brian said: “Roy is going to have a complete breakdown isn’t he? (crying emoji),” and Ryan said, “I hope Roy doesn’t start sleepwalking again following recent events.”

Matt said: “I have a feeling that everything that happened will have a lasting effect on Roy.” Lydia said, “Don’t let this be the death of Roy, please.”
