It smells so bad people ‘can’t breathe’ through parts of Merseyside

A smell said to be plaguing parts of Merseyside is so strong it is making people “feel sick”.

Many social media users are complaining about a smell in several cities. Posting on the nextdoor app, one woman said: “Does anyone know what the awful smell is around Waterloo and Crosby?




“It stinks all day and night, I can’t breathe it. I can’t go out or open doors or windows, it makes me feel sick.”

And one man, posting from the Ford area, said: “What’s with the disgusting smell from the mud blowing across the fields. It makes people physically sick when the wind is in the right (wrong) direction.”

While the source of the smell has yet to be confirmed, other app users have suggested where it could be coming from.

One response read: “This is what you get when you live in the country, unfortunately it stinks, but I’d rather them be able to put nutrients back into the soil than have a failed crop. I lived near a farm. , which was burning stubble, and that was even worse.”
