Wakefield Police and Fire responded to a car accident, two people were cited

WAKEFIELD – Police Chief Steve Skory and Fire Chief Michael Sullivan report that the Wakefield Police and Fire Departments responded to a car accident that resulted in citations to the people involved.

On Wednesday, May 29 at approximately 1:01 p.m., Wakefield Police and Fire responded to the intersection of Salem Street and Chapman Road for a report of a two-car accident.

Upon arrival, officers observed a white 2023 Toyota SUV crashed into a fence along Chapman Road and a black 2005 Toyota Corolla was nearby. Both vehicles sustained significant damage.

The driver of the white 2023 Toyota SUV was transported to an area hospital for injuries. No other injuries were reported.

A preliminary investigation determined that both individuals were initially driving north on I-95 before exiting the freeway and going into Wakefield. The driver of the white 2023 Toyota SUV was observed crossing marked lanes into oncoming traffic, leading to the crash. The drivers may have been involved in some type of traffic incident that originated on the highway.

The driver of the white Toyota SUV, a 33 year old male from NASHUA, NHis sued and charged with:

  • Driving to Endanger
  • Marked lane violation

The driver of the black 2005 Toyota Corolla, a 38 year old male from MARBLEHEADis sued and charged with:

  • Leaving the scene of property damage
  • Operates with a suspended license

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Wakefield Police Department.
