Arsenal physio Jordan Reece is set to join Manchester United

Arsenal physio Jordan Reece is set to leave the club to join Manchester United.

Reece will join former Arsenal head of medical services Gary O’Driscoll in Manchester. O’Driscoll joined United last summer and was brought in to lead the turnaround and modernize the club’s medical department.

Reece will become United’s chief physio, effectively replacing Robin Sadler, who left the club in January. His start date is yet to be decided and his appointment is said to be not a reaction to United’s injuries last season, but a sign of the crucial importance of having a strong medical department.

United are in the midst of an investigation into possible patterns behind their widespread injury problems after Erik ten Hag’s side had to deal with more than 60 individual cases of injury or illness last season,

Ten Hag, who rarely managed to pick his best starting XI last campaign, compared managing the first team last season to “swimming with your hands tied behind your back”.

However, the 54-year-old revealed in April that he “had an idea” of what was causing his side’s injury crisis and would “deal with it”.
