Truck fire on the Port Wakefield Freeway – 31 May 2024

5 CFS crews with approximately 25 firefighters rescued the main engine and first trailer of a B double after the rear trailer caught fire. The truck, which was carrying food from Adelaide, has an estimated damage value of $500,000. The driver exited the vehicle safely. The cause of the fire is believed to be a wheel bearing.

SA Police have closed the Port Wakefield Highway north of Wild Horse Plains. If you are in the area, please drive to the conditions. Crews remained on the scene working to extinguish the fire. The SA ambulance is also present to support the firefighters.
