Bournemouth beach stabbing: Police to host live safety forum

Police will answer questions from the public about their safety after a fatal stabbing on a beach.

Dorset Police said the incident had “shocked” the community and they will be hosting a question and answer event to discuss plans to keep local people safe.

It will be broadcast on Facebook Live on June 5.

The session will be hosted by representatives from Dorset, Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Police (BCP) and the Police and Crime Commissioner.

Members of the public will be encouraged to ask questions about the steps these authorities are taking to prioritize safety in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.

Sup. Cllr Heather Dixey said they would discuss ways to meet “increased demands” on services over the summer, as well as plans to increase police visibility.

The one-hour Q&A event will start at 6pm BST and can be streamed on the Dorset Police, Bournemouth Police, BCP Council and PCC Facebook pages and the Dorset Police YouTube account .

Poole personal trainer Amie Gray died at the scene on Bournemouth beach after being stabbed multiple times.

A second woman, aged 38 and also from Poole, was taken to hospital with serious stab wounds and has since been discharged.

Sup. Ch Dixey said: “Our communities have understandably been shocked by what happened in Bournemouth last weekend and everyone’s thoughts are with the loved ones of Amie Gray and the injured woman.

“Our investigation is ongoing and we will provide updates as we have them.”
