Live: Fire crews have been called to the incident on a massive industrial estate in Cornwall

Fire crews are dealing with an incident at a major industrial estate in Cornwall. Crews from stations in Tolvaddon, Hayle, Perranporth and Falmouth were called to the Cardrew industrial site in Redruth at 7.31am today.


No details of the incident have been released so far. Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said: “We are currently attending an incident on the Cardrew Industrial Estate in Redruth. Crews from Tolvaddon, Hayle, Perranporth and Falmouth are at the scene.”



The industrial estate is among the largest in the duchy and next to the A3047. Dozens of companies operating from the property include Volvo, Fal Fish, South West Automation Systems and St Austell Brewery.

Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service is warning people to avoid the Cardrew Industrial Estate area due to a large plume of smoke coming from the inferno.

3,000 pallets on fire and flames are spreading

Fire chiefs said the incident involved 3,000 pallets and five shipping containers which were all alight. The fire also spread to a single-storey building containing cylinders.
