Fire at a derelict industrial site, Erdington, Birmingham

Shortly after 5.25pm ​​on Saturday (June 1st) we responded to Cincinnati Drive in the Erdington area of ​​Birmingham.

Five fire engines, three brigade response vehicles and a hydraulic aerial platform responded from Erdington, Ward End, Sheldon, Sutton Coldfield, Perry Barr, Aston and Highgate stations, manned by around 35 firefighters.

This was a fire involving construction materials on an abandoned industrial site. The fire, measuring 80 m x 10 m, was contained to a steel structure.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used four jets to extinguish the blaze, which was confirmed to be out at around 8.25pm. Drone operations helped them.

An adjacent abandoned single-story building sustained minor heat damage.

As a result of this incident, no one was injured. A full site search was conducted and confirmed that everyone was accounted for.

Crews confirmed that all hot spots were extinguished at approximately 9:00 p.m. and the incident was reduced to a brief sighting.
